What does a great Progress Development Engineer do?
- As a SDE you can look forward to serve as a technical leader in the Software Engineering Department and play a key role in developing industry leading software for our customers. In this role you will be responsible for defining, developing, and testing complex technical and architectural solutions that support Bank Solutions product strategies and address the market needs of Fiserv clients and their customers. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, where you can apply your existing knowledge to tackle new market problems on almost a daily basis.
You’re the kind of person who will:
Lead in developing complex applications based upon technical and functional specifications
Assist in the development of and adhering to technical and functional standards
Research, define, & complete required additions and changes to financial software products
Under limited direction, analyze technical specifications for both generation of new or improving existing applications for compatibility with other systems
Participate in strategic planning sessions and technical discussions and demonstrate the quality to assist in translating ideas into technical designs
Connect with external, as well as, internal clients for data gathering, assisting with design, and ensuring development of solutions that meet or exceed client expectations
Performs other duties as required
Basic qualifications for consideration:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or an Associate’s degree in Computer Programming, or equivalent education in a related discipline is preferred.
Minimum years 1+ years of experience required
Experience as a Progress Open Edge or .NET developer having strong programming skills with object oriented programming skills as well as c#, MVC, MS SQL Server, Web Services, REST Services Knowledge of technologies and development patterns such as but not limited to:
.NET framework, and C# programming, MVC and WPF.
Experience with Relational Database structure and Database Administration
Experience with Unix and Windows operating systems
Experience with Test Driven Development or automation of processes a plus
A deep understanding of how to document program design, coding, and maintenance.
A strong knowledge of the relationship between software and hardware interaction.
Preferred qualifications for consideration:
A good knowledge of programming (i.e. program design, flowcharting, coding, testing, debugging, etc)
Strong Verbal and Written Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft® Word & Excel
Willing to work as part of an agile development team in which collaboration is required.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, good communication skills, and a motivation to achieve best-in-class results.
You should have good knowledge about object-oriented software design, data modelling, and design patterns.
Strong in resolving architectural problems including scalability, performance, reliability, usability & security.
- The position is based out of Lincoln, NE or Sioux Falls, SD. The travel requirements will be minimal. However, there may be business needs for travel (to client locations and other Fiserv locations) and hence some flexibility is expected
Who we are: Bank Solutions delivers technology products and services for community, regional and large financial institutions, whether they process in-house or through an outsourced service center. This group is responsible for product management and development, service delivery and client support related to the Fiserv bank platforms – Premier, Precision, Cleartouch and Signature.
The primary role for this position is to analyze and convert financial data from 3rd party applications to our Fiserv Precision platform. You will work closely, both with an internal installation team and client personnel to capture needed artifacts in order to convert the data to our Fiserv Precision platform.
