Position Description

What does a Director, Program Management Office do?

As a Director, Program Management Office (PMO) you will provide effective leadership, management, visibility and governance to the client-facing portfolio of key projects and programs in a manner that is consistent with standard methodologies and results in improved execution and client experience. You will lead, mentor and inspire the team of project/program managers in the PMO.

  • Lead and direct the PMO for the Investment Services’ portfolio of key client facing projects/programs.

  • Maintain methodologies, tools, standards and artifacts for leading projects/programs.

  • Plan, track and report on status, outputs and outcomes to partners to provide visibility both internally and client-facing.

  • Handle risk and issue tracking, customer concerns and mitigation.

  • Lead cross-project interdependency.

  • Initiate and utilize change control/request process.

  • Develop partner maps

  • Plan and execute communication plans to partners.

  • Responsible for financial tracking and reporting.

  • Partner closely with other functions within IS (Technology, Product, Sales, etc.)

  • Produce artifacts that meet audit standards.

  • Lead and further develop the PMO Team.

  • Deliver continuous improvement within the Program Management domain with standard methodologies, consistency, effectiveness and efficiency in mind.

  • Required qualifications for consideration*:

  • BS/BA required and Advanced degree a plus.

  • 10+ years of experience in Project/Program Management strongly desired.

  • 3+ years of experience in leading direct reports.

  • PMP Certification.

  • Ability to travel 35%.

  • Preferred qualifications for consideration:*

  • Professional Certifications desired such as Scrum Master, Six Sigma (yellow, green, black).

  • Experience in banking, financial services, consulting and/or software industries desired.

  • Validated leadership skills with ability to influence others at all levels and drive relationships, internally and with external clients, including matrix environments.

  • Instinctive aim to realize success on behalf of the business.

  • Talent development and team building experience.

  • Competencies across multiple software development life cycle models including Agile and Waterfall project management principles and practices.

  • Strong experience with project management tools and artifacts.

  • Change management knowledge.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
