Role Profile

VP, Chief Information Officer, IS

In support of strategic growth initiatives, the division CIO is responsible for the operational performance, development, testing, and release of all new initiatives and services which includes, but is not limited to; ideation and execution of proof of concepts, test and learn opportunities, foundational architectural strategy, solution development and delivery, quality performance, program management, project management, solution security and compliance, and professional services for the division. This leader is responsible for communicating the division’s technology strategy to investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and key stakeholders. While leading the technology R&D functions for new technology solutions across Investment Services, the CIO evaluates and implements the deployment of new technologies/architectural roadmaps in support of the integrated strategy.

The CIO is responsible for Investment Services’ multi-platform development leveraging on-shore and off-shore associates, enterprise architecture, technology stack, release management, quality assurance and testing, daily run operations, Technology processes, security and compliance audits, and Professional Services, provisioning software deployment, configuration, and client technical support. The CIO role provides the leadership and direct interface with the Enterprise Technology Group (ETG) coordinating and prioritizing the plans of all internal engineering support needs, data center operations support and any/all related services necessary in support of the Technical Infrastructure.

This leader is responsible for cultivating first rate innovation, delivering quality products, creating, implementing, and making course adjustments in the software/systems development processes, and directing top notch software development, business analysis, and systems analysis teams as a core information technology (IT) business function. He/She collaborates with Product Management to develop products and services adding value to clients, client’s customers, Fiserv associates, and stockholders. Where Product Management determines and specifies the products and services portfolio, the CIO is responsible for leading Technology in the delivery of highly functional, scalable, and resilient solutions that delivery responsiveness and usability in a high degree of quality.

The CIO participates in pan-Fiserv technology initiatives with other business unit and Enterprise Technology Group CIOs and technology leadership to delivery technical solutions and processes as One Fiserv. This includes participation in various Fiserv-wide committees, including but not limited to: Technology Senior Leadership Team (TSLT), Technology Governance Council (TGC), and other select committees upon demand. He/She supports the marketing efforts through blogs, published materials, interviews, and speaking engagements as beneficial to and appropriate for the organization.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

*RESPONSIBILITIES: *

  • Lead a 340+person organization, comprised of IS domestic and off-shore associates including Fiserv Global Services.

  • Serve as a key member of the Investment Services’ senior leadership team, providing input and leadership for the division’s overall business strategy: Long Range Planning and Annual Operating Plan.

  • Manage the current and long-term architectural IT plans and growth for a divisional technology solution.

  • Manage technology managers in setting objectives, goals and priorities for their respective departments to further the technology solution to meet or exceed divisional goals.

  • Manage the technical solutions to divisional challenges and product offerings.

  • Lead the development of all new products and services.

  • Represent the technology unit for the Investment Services Division in marketing activities, negotiations with vendors, and business-to-business opportunities.

  • Prior to implementation of technology solutions, work with Product Management, Account Management, and Customer Service leads to ensure operational readiness and application usability.

  • Foster a continuous improvement environment within the team.

  • Develop and deliver system software, applications and services based on a diverse set of technology platforms.

  • Support legal efforts in contractual negotiations and execution of business contracts as pertains to services level agreements, service level expectations, high availability, disaster recovery, and delivery to return to operations (RTO), and recovery point objective (RPO).

  • Collaborate on and support the implementation of software development methodologies that will dramatically improve software quality, development concurrency and speed-to-market.

  • Oversee the coordination and management of off-shore development resources in conjunction/support with US-based developers.

  • Lead the delivery of solutions and revenue to the product portfolio and professional services for software and hosted solutions.

FUNCTIONAL AREA SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Has strong technology acumen with experience leading development of new and innovative solutions

  • Has extensive and broad knowledge of the organization, industry and relevant external forces with a significant understanding of how technology has an effect on investors and business operations within the financial services industry

  • Demonstrates significant knowledge of the current technology and how it relates to the financial services industry

  • Experience working in a large complex matrix environment

  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to motivate employees to perform at peak standards

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills

  • Knowledge of budgets and financials

  • Bachelor degree required, preferably in Engineering or affiliated technical field. MBA or related field preferred

  • Strong architectural IT background and experience developing new consumer facing technologies

  • Deep understanding and leadership experience in technical organizations using AGILE and Lean (Kanban) and Waterfall methodologies

  • 15 plus years of IT management experience, preferably consumer facing
