Position Description

What does a Business System Analyst Do?

You can look forward to- an opportunity to expand your horizons. You will learn new technology and are encouraged to pursue the areas of technology that hold your interest. This is not a boring job, you might work on a project that requires a lot of development and the next quarter will be driving a large scale project involving detailed coordination. We work on projects with mainframes using COBOL and servers using .NET (mostly VB, moving to C#). We have a production SQL DB and we have some phenomenal test environments for working on web applications, SQL solutions, reporting services, .NET and power script. It has fairly high visibility, and are trusted by the Directors we work with. Some of the products we support are deeply key to Fiserv as a whole (National Billing), and some that are key for Operations.

We need someone high-energy that can talk about difficult technical topics, with non-technical associates and other groups. We are looking for an ambitious person, with a dream to make things better and to help others. We work with Clients so good customer service is a very important priority. We also help the people that help the customers. Our leaders do a good job of recognizing us for our efforts. Most of the team members have been with Fiserv for a long time.

You are the kind of person who will:

  • Develop/implement/support applications for Client requests.

  • Develop/implement/support applications in support of Technology Operations.

  • After Hours support rotations supporting applications.

Basic qualifications for consideration:

  • Education- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent education in a related discipline. Related 5 years of work experience can be substituted for education.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience required

  • Software development experience required.

  • 2 years of SQL, .Net experience

Preferred qualifications for consideration:

  • Good communication skills

  • Financial services industry experience

  • Experience working with both internal and external clients

Travel Required:

Percentage/frequency of travel- potentially three times a year

You will be called on to help when there are problems spanning multiple areas as we have broad overview knowledge across multiple platforms and regions. We are the troubleshooters, the cold case solvers and the work horse all rolled into one. You will become a part of a team that collaborates/brainstorms on how to make things better and more automated. Our group is the interface between our core software and the special needs of the Customer and other team members. We provide solutions that either our software can’t do in the short term or doesn’t have the capability to do.
